SAVE Middle & High School

Education Outside the Box

SAVE Institute Middle & High School is an innovative and accelerated alternative to traditional school that allows for students to learn academics through projects, life experiences, agriculture, vocational training and implementing business enterprises.   At an accelerated pace, students are able to complete middle school and earn a High School Diploma along with Agricultural and Vocational Trade Certifications, and a fully launched and developed business of their own.

Students spend large portions of their school experience working within their vocational trade, working on our farms, leading service projects and piloting their own business ventures, with much less time sitting inside of classrooms than most traditional schools.

By the time students graduate from SAVE Institute, they will not only have a diploma, but they will have also mastered a vocational trade, launched their own business, learned how to grow their own food, and will have designed and led community-centered service projects. They will return to their communities as leaders, with a renewed understanding of themselves, their purpose and their potential.

The SAVE Institute Advantage

By the time students graduate from SAVE Institute, they will not only have a diploma, but they will have also mastered a vocational trade, launched their own business, learned how to grow their own food, and will have designed and led community-centered service projects. They will return to their communities as leaders, with a renewed understanding of themselves, their purpose and their potential. It is our theory that black youth experience negative life outcomes not only due to a lack of opportunity, but also due to a lack of an awakening to the realization of their true and ultimate purpose. Similar to the eagle who was raised with chickens; when he finally realized that he was an eagle, he was able to soar. The holistic development model of SAVE Institute will allow these young men to soar.

There are three main elements that truly sets the approach of SAVE Institute apart from others: its unique holistic formula within its curriculum, its sustainability model and its laser focus on catering to the needs of black male youth. SAVE’s holistic curriculum brings together all of the most crucial components that black male youth need in a way that propels them towards maximum success. Bringing together academics, vocational training, agricultural training, entrepreneurial training and service leadership training all based upon their individual life’s purpose and potential creates results that no one has produced before with this population. Additionally, throughout the time that the students are in the school, they learn these skills through working on SAVE’s profit generating agricultural enterprises and construction projects. The students’ involvement in these ventures allow for them to thrive financially and act as major funding sources for the school’s operations. Lastly, in addition to providing all of the above, SAVE provides all of these in a way that is catered specifically to the unique needs of black male youth in an environment that is designed for them to thrive.
